My name is Henk Linschoten, I live in Alkmaar and I have had birds since I was a teenager, now about 50 years old.

I once started with canaries, switched to (Borders), not without merit I must say.

And after a few years of canaries, I switched to tropics.

In the beginning I had many different species and eventually made a choice in one of the most beautiful Australians, namely the Gouldian finch.

These birds were bred with great pleasure in the outdoor aviary for 10 years, but 2 years ago they contracted something and almost my entire stock died from......?

The bird blood continues to flow and after this disappointment we switched to parrot finches and gradually expanded over the past year to the mainly Australian species as can be seen in the index on the left.

In 2007 I had a beautiful new aluminum aviary installed to replace my old wooden outdoor aviary.

It is a beautiful aluminum aviary that I am very proud of.

Given the switch from barn to new aviary, I had a mediocre year last season, only the red heads, belts, Cuban finches and diamond finches raised several nests.

Let's see what the new season has in store for me, I have certainly expanded the population considerably with the necessary new couples.

I will keep you informed by updating my blog regularly.

Unfortunately, the latter did not happen, new PC without the necessary software and did not feel the need to regularly update the site.

Since this year (2024) I have been pre-retired and have started again to lift the "old website" in a different package, which looks a bit like the old one, but with a new look.

A lot has changed in all these years, in the outdoor aviary there are still Australian beautiful finches with a varying composition and this season started again with a number of pairs of five fancy's, I am very curious to see how they will do at the TT.

About eight years ago I started breeding Gouldian finches in my son's bedroom and over the past year I got the hang of it and this year I replaced all my cages with Van Keulen cages and it is now one beautiful whole, with a total of 25 breeding cages. and 2 flight cages. I am actually very happy with it, it has become a beautiful space, where the youngsters can moult in flights of 240 and grow to size.

By the way, my main color is all yellow mutations, preferably with a nice orange head on it.
